Virtual Serial Port Driver – Everything You Need to Know About

Virtual Serial Port Driver is software that allows creating virtual serial ports. Then they are paired with the help of a virtual null modem cable so that applications on both ends can exchange data instantaneously. Virtual serial ports behave exactly like real hardware ports, and you can create as many of them as you need.

The technology used enables integrating the application into your own software (OEM license).

What Virtual Serial Port Driver has to offer:

  • Emulate any number of serial ports

The software allows you to create any number of virtual ports, while your hardware ports, if you have any, remain free. The ports are displayed in Device Manager; they are visible and recognizable by applications and devices in your system. You can specify what application has access to a virtual port.

  •  Recreate all real ports parameters

When creating a virtual port, the software simulates parameters of hardware ports in such a way that the system does not see the difference between the two. It is possible to emulate a serial line break. The application provides strict baudrate emulation, supports full Handflow control, WDM, WMI, Power Management, PnP, etc., as well as all API COM and Windows messages.

  • Manage all signal lines

Virtual serial ports support all standard hardware signal lines – DTR/DSR, RTS/CTS, RING, ERROR, DCD, etc. Imitating a real null modem connection, DTR of the local port is connected to DSR and DCD of the remote port, and RTS of the local port is connected to CTS of the remote port. It is possible to choose loopback pinout or create a customized one to match the configuration of your hardware.
